I Got Your Back

I have noticed that I take everything to heart. If someone shares news with me, I am right there with them. I share their joy. I share their sorrow. I bake them cookies for each and both. I walk a fine line between empathy and making their moments about me. Sometimes, it just isn't my burden to bear.
One time a friend was on the verge of losing her job. I took that journey with her, but my job was secure, and I was happy in my line of work. One time a friend experienced a death in the family, and I was devastated, but I had never met the person who had passed. One time a friend's daughter was getting married, and I had so much advice for the mother of the bride, but my own daughter was barely out of diapers at the time.
Bear one another’s burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he is deluding himself. Each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason to boast with regard to himself alone, and not with regard to someone else; for each will bear his own load. Galatians 6: 2-5
