Something Real

ree

There are people in my life who like to delegate. They tell someone to tell someone something. As the secondhand recipient, I started to take it personally. I can almost hear people saying, "Oh, you tell Nancy -- " I asked why those people could not tell me personally, and the answer surprised me. They were afraid of me.

Imagine my surprise. I am a small woman. I am 5'4" and weigh less that my eleven-year-old son. My days of effectively raining down hellfire in the name of righteousness are few and far between. And yet, they were afraid to look me in the eye and tell me something. They could not even send it in writing.

After careful thought and a great deal of prayer, I decided I am worth more than that. As a child of God and a prospective princess of the Kingdom, I do not have to settle for being a secondhand recipient. I can say no. Those people can speak to me and build a real relationship, or we can end the illusion of the relationship we almost had.

Rather, professing truth and love, we will in all things grow into Him Who is the Head, Christ. From Him, the entire body, joined and held together by every ligament, continues to grow and to build itself up in love, as each part performs its particular function. Eph 4: 15-16
