Why Not Now?

There is a fine line between inspiration and envy. When a person sees something someone else has and thinks, "I want that, too," two paths open up before them. One path involves hard work, patience, and fortitude. The other path involves anger and despair.
These paths become more frequent as the person gets older. It could be as simple as a prize at a spelling bee or as complex as a Master's Degree in Fine Arts. Some people want to put in the work, and others ask the universe, "What's wrong with me? Why can't I have that?"
There is a third path that is not as common as the other two, and that is discernment. It is entirely possible that neither path is right for the person at this point in their life. Perhaps, no amount to hard work will gain the desired prize because God has something better planned for them. Perhaps all the person really needs in their life to be happy is a little more Jesus.
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” Matt 11: 28-30
