Apologies, I am told, are a great way to fix problems. I sincere "I'm sorry" without any limiters cost nothing, I am told, and it can lift another's spirits like leaven in bread.
What if I'm not sorry? What if I believe I'm not wrong? What if I believe that I'm owed the apology?
I have found that the answer to every me-centered question is the cross. Jesus did not demand an apology from the cross. He forgave my sins.
I have found that my pride -- the first of the deadly sins and a personal friend of mine -- gets me into more trouble than I would like to admit. A good, "I'm sorry" is an important item to keep in my back pocket for just those moments.
He came to Simon Peter, who said to Him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?"
Jesus answered, "You do not understand now what I am doing, but later you will understand."
Peter said to Him, "You shall never wash my feet."
Jesus replied, "Unless I wash you, you will have no share with me."
Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, then wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head."
Jesus then said, "Anyone who has bathed has no need to wash further, except for his feet, for he is clean all over..." John 13: 6-10

I’m not sure that I follow this post. But I sincerely hope that your rough weekend gives way to a better week.
