One thing I have noticed about "peace" is that it is fleeting. Peace and quiet only lasts until the child's first meltdown. Peace in our time only lasts until someone breaks a treaty. Peaceful waters only last until someone throws a stone.
Jesus promises to give me His peace. His peace will last forever. Why? Because He doesn't take away the bad things. He holds my hand through them. My peace is no longer shaken when a child throws a fit. With Jesus I can care for the child and make things better. With Jesus I am not afraid of thrones, dominions, principalities, or powers. With Jesus even the storm does not disturb my calm.
The people dressed in white robes, who had washed their garments in the Blood of the Lamb, were not spared the time of tribulation. Jesus walked with them, and they came through it. Today He walks with me.
Peace I leave you, My peace I give you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled; be not afraid. John 14: 27
