Carbs and Sleep

I have found that the world tells me to eat less meat. And less dairy. And less bread. And no sweets at all. I tried something on accident yesterday. I ate meat. Like a lot of meat. So much meat that I didn't have room for bread or fruit or dessert! I weighed myself this morning, and I had lost weight. Now, I am not talking about lean turkey or chicken. I ate honey glazed ham, smoked Polish sausage, and steak. These foods are not on anyone's weight loss plan. And yet, the Church tells us to feast for fifty days after Easter. If I continue to feast like this, I may end up healthier than when I started.

Last night I scooted everyone to bed at 8:30pm. On a typical night, the family starts scooting to bed around 10:30pm. After the last one was asleep, I got to be at 9:45pm and not 11:15pm. I slept a deep and beautiful sleep. My dreams were still weird, but I felt better than I had in a long time. I find closing the day earlier and beginning the next day on time, helps the family do the things we need to do without as much yawning and complaining. Better moods are always a good start to a productive day.

On this mountain the Lord of Hosts will prepare for all peoples a feast of rich food and vintage wines, of succulent foods and well-aged wines. Isaiah 25: 6
