Laughter of Children

My husband and my boys had an outing yesterday. It was an annual event, and I always worry about my little girl's feelings when she is not included. As it happened, I had double-booked, and I had an outing for my daughter after all. She had such a good time, that she laughed for two hours. She played, she snacked, and she fell asleep on the drive home.

I knew I had done it right.

I believe God puts little moments in my life to test the waters of my faith. I took my little girl out into the cold to an adult gathering, when it would have been much easier to sit her down in front of a movie for the afternoon. We could have stayed warm and safe and not worried about the possibility of icy roads and dangerous driving conditions.

God wanted more from me and for my little girl. God wanted me to put my faith in Him. The roads were not as bad as I had feared. The driving conditions were altogether pretty mild. My daughter had the opportunity to laugh and play all afternoon. God always calls me to something bigger and better than I had imagined.

The law of the Lord is perfect, it revives the soul. The rule of the Lord is to be trusted; it gives wisdom to the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, they gladden the heart. The command of the Lord is clear; it gives light to the eyes. Ps 19: 8-9
