The other night my husband and I were talking about how we saw our relationship with God. He saw it as, "I can always make it worse." If we question the Lord's plan, the Lord can make our crosses a bit more uncomfortable until we let go of whatever worldly vice is keeping us from His love.
For me it was always that moment when Aladdin reaches out his hand to Jasmine and says, "Do you trust me?" In the marketplace, taking the hand of a stranger seemed like a pretty good idea, considering what was behind her. But in her palace? She had everything. She was safe. She had money. She had all of her wants provided for her at a moment's notice. And yet, it wasn't enough. It is never enough. This world is not enough to fill the hole in our hearts that is meant for HIM.
So, Stephen says, "What about when she was enslaved and almost killed?"
Okay, that's fair. It is never easy following the path of righteousness. Just ask the martyrs. "But she wasn't," I replied. "Because he always came through for her!" Just like the Lord always comes through for me.
O rescue me, God, my helper, and my tongue shall ring out Your goodness. O Lord, open my lips and my mouth shall proclaim Your praise. Ps 51: 14-15
