Getting Back to Work

There are two ways to deal with a long illness: wait until I feel better or feel better by sheer force of will. I have decided that today is the day to start feeling better. I have made a plan. I did not hit the snooze. I am moving forward instead of standing still. I may have purchased a really beautiful Ethiopian whole bean light roast to help me get through the day. For medicinal purposes.

After a long illness, my children have a difficult time getting back to their usual school routine. Algebra has been an ongoing problem. I have decided to reset their goals. Let's be honest, if they can write a budget, account for their income and outcome, and live within their means, they have passed math and are on the road to a successful life. Algebra is a journey. It's okay to lose the map a few times. It's okay to start over and look at it with new eyes. It's okay to not finish on time. Algebra is not a race to the end. It is preparation for life. Sometimes coffee and chai tea are required for medicinal purposes.

The angel of the Lord touched him a second time and said, "Get up and eat, because the journey is too difficult for you." He got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled for forty days and forty nights to the mountain of God, Horeb. 1 Kings 19: 7-8
