There has been some talk about the popular show The Chosen as of late. I have heard that it is not "Catholic" enough. I have heard it is too "Catholic." Personally, I feel I understand Jewish culture and historical events better after watching it. I love that the interactions between the characters are translated into modern language, and it is relatable over 2000 years removed from the time the events took place. I believe the mission of The Chosen has succeeded in my case; my children and I read the Bible more after watching the show than before. I have to thank them for that.
In my experience I tend to find what I am looking for. If I look for graces, I find them. If I look for imperfections, I find them. It is what separates the good days from the bad.
Rejoice always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophesies. Test everything and hold fast to what is good. Avoid every form of evil. May the God of peace Himself grant you the gift of perfect sanctity, and may you -- spirit and soul and body -- be preserved blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The One Who calls you is faithful, and He will accomplish this. 1 Thes 5: 16-24
